Country Music's biggest party took place last night right here in Nashville, TN: the County Music Awards. In case you missed it, here's what you need to know...
Carrie Underwood revealed she will be having a boy come spring. (well, actually Brad Paisley did the revealing.)
Taylor Swift was a no-show. The newly coined "pop-star," may have ditched her cowboy boots for good after all.
Though it seemed like an unlikely pairing, Ariana Grande took the stage with Little Big Town, collaborating on her hit, "Bang, Bang," and it was kind of amazing.
Kacey Musgraves had big hair...really, REALLY, big hair.
And the gals did not disappoint with their red carpet looks. See what we mean below:
Miranda Lambert in Bibhu Mohapatra.
Kimberly Perry.
Little Big Town's Kimberly Schlapman.
Little Big Town's Karen Fairchild.
Kellie Pickler.
Meghan Trainor.
Connie Britton in Naaem Kahn.
Jennifer Nettles.
Faith Hill in Naaem Kahn.

When it comes to hair color services, sometimes it can seem like your stylist is talking a whole new language. Ombre...balayage...toner...base buster? What does it even mean?
Well have no fear, we've defined all the terms below to give you the inside scoop:
single process color: a single process color is a roots only application used to cover greys and re-growth.
single process color + ends: a single process color applied to the roots and pulled through the ends.
partial highlight vs. full highlight: a partial highlight is applied to the hairline and crown of the head (if you were to pull you hair half up, that is the part that would be highlighted), while a full highlight includes the whole head.
toner: typically applied at the shampoo bowl to add shine and give the hair a cooler or warmer tone.
base buster: a high-lifting mixture applied to the roots to break up and lighten the base of a blonde.
color correction: anytime you are drastically changing the hair color...either to fix an at-home dye job gone wrong or to create a completely new look.
cool: shades that have more blue tones...think ash or champagne.
warm: shades that have more red or golden tones...think honey, caramel or copper.
neutral: in-between a cool and warm tone. neutrals are great for covering grey hair.
level: a measurement of lightness or darkness, typically on a scale of 2-12. 2 being the darkest black and 12 being white or platinum.
dimension: a combination of varied tones, levels and shines
brassy: a term used for hair that is too gold or yellow-looking after a lightening service. it is can be controlled by counteracting the warmth with a cool toner.
filler: a product added to the hair prior to coloring to fill in and equalize the differences in areas of damaged hair for an even color result.
demi-permanent: demi-permanaent color rests on top of the hair cuticle, kind of like lipstick on your lips. it is a more translucent color but is great for blending greys, enhancing natural color and toning highlights. it typically fades out after 24 washes.
permanent: permanent dye replaces the natural hair pigment. it creates rich, vibrant color and offers 100% grey coverage.
virgin hair: hair that has been untouched by color. it can refer to hair that has never been colored before or re-growth.

gloss: all over clear color applied to the hair for extra shine and vibrancy. it can be done in-between color appointments or applied to the ends of hair when only roots need coverage.
base buster: a high-lifting mixture applied to the roots to break up and lighten the base of a blonde.
color correction: anytime you are drastically changing the hair color...either to fix an at-home dye job gone wrong or to create a completely new look.
balayage: also known as "hair painting," because highlights are literally painted on the hair. this french technique helps to achieve natural-looking, sun-kissed strands.
ombre: literally translated to gradation, this technique involves a fading of color from dark to light. instead of color being placed at the root, it is blended in mid-shaft to create a more natural grown-out look.

Summer is wonderful. It's the time for soaking up rays, boating trips galore and poolside weekends. By this time, you've most likely changed up your skin routine for the warm months, but have you updated your hair regimen as well? Here's a few tips to help protect your hair's color and vibrancy...not to mention, restore moisture and minimize frizz to extend your blowout for those hot, humid Southern nights.
PROTECT YOUR COLOR & VIBRANCY
Did you know that your hair needs protection from UV rays just like your skin? It's true! The sun can dry out hair and damage it's elasticity. And that's just the sun, not even the chlorine you might be swimming in daily. Chlorine is another monster all on it's own. It strips the sheen out of hair and can even change the color if not rinsed out throughly. We recommend the following if you have color-treated hair:
1: Shampoo & Conditioner with Kerastase Bain Chroma Captive and Fondant Chroma Captive. Along with being sulfate-free, this duo preserves color depth and shine and offers UV protection.
2: Cover up with a head scarf like this one from J.Crew to avoid color fade.
3: Style with Bumble and bumble Color-Minded Styling Balm. Work through wet hair before blow-drying for added protection, or use it to coat your hair before jumping into pools/oceans/lakes.
4: Spray Bumble and bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Primer on wet hair to detangle and soften. It boasts 6 featherlight oils that work together to tame flyways, reduce frizz and protect hair against breakage, heat-styling and UV rays.
5: When all else fails, throw on a hat. We love this straw one from H&M.
RESTORE MOISTURE
Wind, sun and salt...you name it; it's all drying your hair out. Try the following to replace needed moisture:

1: Bumble and bumble Quenching Conditioner is for the (terribly) thirsty. It's not quite as heavy as a masque, so feel free to use it daily!
2: Once a week, treat your hair with Shu Uemura Moisture Velvet Masque, leave on for 15 minutes, then rinse out.
3: Kerastsae Elixir Ultime Moringa can be used on wet or dry hair to replenish ends and seal the cuticle.
FIGHT FRIZZ
Hot summer nights are perfect for dinner parties and dancing underneath the stars...but they're not ideal for your blowout. Help keep frizz at bay using the following:
1: The Mason Pearson Rake Comb glides through hair to help detangle without ruffing up or breaking hair.
2: Shu Uemura Essence Absolue aids in naturally balancing the moisture of hair, which in turn leaves it shinier, smoother and less frizzy.
3: Kerastsae Laque Noire is THE summer hairspray. It's basically an anti-humidity shield with super strong staying power.
